Nelles Maps have always been superb, and up-to-date. However in the 2014 edition the parameters have been significant;y changed.. The 2009 edition of the map with the same label covers from just above 21 degrees longitude north to just below 29 degrees north; and from 123 degrees latitude west to just west of 98 degrees. The 2009 edition map therefore included most of Yunnan Province and its contiguous border with Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam.The new 2014 edition only incorporates west latitude to just past 103 degrees east (barely including Kunming). At the same time it shows a strip north to above 31 degrees north latitude (thus taking in Shanghai).
However, I am primarily interested in southwest China including Yunnan and contiguous regions. This change is not reflected in the map description. Apparently Nelles no longer publishes anything of the same detail for the extreme southwest of China.
So I am left to use my older edition of 2009, and therefore do not have an updated map that includes the most recent addition of expressways and improved highways for that region.
I have always appreciated the Nelles maps because of their accuracy and detail, and the fact that they are 1:1,750,00. I have not found any other maps in English of this quality.
